This powerful treatment method is currently revolutionizing the way Physiotherapists prevent and rehabilitate injuries. Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM) is a system of soft tissue therapy that has been shown to improve range of motion, blood flow and speed healing in many soft tissue injuries.

What is Graston Therapy?

Graston Technique is an advanced trademarked soft tissue techniques that specifically target scar tissue and fibrous adhesions that form in muscle, ligament, and tendon. This therapy involves using instruments made from stainless steel or ceramics over the surface of the skin to first locate scar tissue, and then remove it by applying pressure with the instrument in a specific manner. These techniques are very effective at removing scar tissue and are used frequently in the treatment of olympic and professional athletes.

How does Instrument assisted soft tissue therapy work?

When muscles, joints, or ligaments are injured your body works hard to heal the damaged tissues. Similarly to a scar forming as you heal from a cut on your skin, your body lays down connective tissue as your muscles heal. This scar tissue can build up and form adhesions between the surrounding tissues. These adhesions impede muscle function and can lead to dysfunction and disability. Instrument assisted soft tissue therapy is designed to break up these adhesions and return the muscles and soft tissues to full function.
